Features of the Work Ordered Day
Clubhouses are based on the idea that work is healing. Members of the Clubhouse
work side by side, using their abilities, to complete the work of the Clubhouse.
The Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse features these Work Units.
- Kitchen Unit: This unit is responsible for preparing nutritious lunches
and managing the snack bar.
- Business Unit: This unit is responsible for all the administrative work of
the Clubhouse such as data entry, newsletter production, visitor tours and
reception.
- Special Events Unit: This unit is responsible for planning and organizing
community outings, parties and fundraising events.
- Education and Employment Unit: This unit is assisted by a licensed
vocational counselor that provides work assessments, and assistance with
return to paid employment, volunteer opportunities or school. A Job Club
addresses many of the skills needed to return to work such as resume writing
and interviewing.
- Clubhouse Extras: The Clubhouse also offers computer training in Microsoft
Word and Excel, using the Internet, arts and crafts, creative writing, life
skills training and wellness programs.
